Jai Ho is an upcoming Bollywood action Drama film starring Salman Khan and Tabu in lead roles. It is a remake of Telugu film Stalin starring Chiranjeevi in the lead role. The film is directed by Sohail Khan under the Sohail Khan Production franchise. jai ho , Salman Khan in first half He is basically a do-gooder for his fellow-men as he attempts to make the world a better place to live. Salman in such a role may/may not work with the masses but in this refreshingly different role, he is cool with a capital C.
Jaiho (Salman khan) is an officer in Indian army who is leading a peaceful life with his mother (popular hindi) after taking voluntary retirement from service. jai ho takes pride in helping people, but tells them that in return they should also help three people so that this chain multiplies. His sister Jhansi (Kushboo) and mother are at loggerheads after she married a Punjabi, though jai ho is in touch with them.
jai ho has an admirer in (Genelia) who is Jhansi’s neighbour. jai ho wants to change the attitude of people being selfish and advises them to help others when they are in need. A small incident on the road, changes his life completely. He happens to cross words with a lady who happens to be Home minister (Prakash Raj) daughter in telugu hindi may change the character. She wants to take revenge on jai ho with the help of her powerful dad.
The film tries to convey the message that a simple idea can make a big difference to our society. The introductory scene of jai ho projects him as a mass hero with a larger-than-life image but slowly the tempo slows down. The first half has nothing much to offer and delves with problems like the injustice meted out to the handicap and the poor. And the second half, after Prakash Raj comes into the scene; the film picks up speed and becomes interesting especially the last 15 minutes.
With his immense screen presence, Salman khan lifts the film to great heights though it lacks the usual entertainment that is associated with his films. Trisha is a feast for your eyes and her comedy scenes with Salman khan are a major highlight. The best thing about the film is that it does not have crass comedy and Sunil has a neat role and he excels in the emotional scene in the climax. Prakash Raj as a70-year-old man has given a commendable performance while Kushboo, Sarada and Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao are ok.
Though the basic plot is inspired from Pay It Forward, Sohali khan has Indianised it by adding plenty of local flavour. Music by Mani Sharma is mediocre and the picturisation has a Ghajini hangover. Camera of Chota.K.Naidu is good especially the exotic locales of Italy and Austria in the songs. On the whole, jai ho is watchable?
